The district convenes a number of committees and task forces to support programs, analyze data and make recommendations to the Board of Education. Committees include representation from the Board of Education, district administration, school sites, parents, teachers, bargaining units and community members. Benefits CommitteeThe Santa Cruz City Schools is part of the Self Insured Schools of California (SISC) JPA that is administered by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. The purpose of the Benefits Committee is to study potential plan design changes, or benefit modifications aimed at providing the best coverage and service while maintaining health care costs affordable and stable.

Budget Advisory Committee (BAC)This Board of Education committee receives financial information and makes recommendations for district expenditures. English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC/DELAC)By law, school districts with more than 50 English Learners must have in place a District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). With over 1,500 English Learner students, the District has established a volunteer DELAC made up of one parent representative from each school that has an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). The purpose and function of DELAC is to provide advice to the administration and the Board of Education on programs and services for English Learners. DELAC informs parent representatives so they can take the information back to the school site. Topics that will be covered this year include:

Each year, on or near Earth Day, the committee is to provide the Board of Trustees an annual report on the district's environmental footprint, incorporating curriculum issues and environmental sustainability. Parcel Tax Oversight CommitteeThe PTOC, a ballot initiative requirement, provides citizen oversight of expenditures from revenue generated by active parcel tax measures. Meets: As needed Members: Community members
Wellness CommitteeRecognizing the link between student health and learning, The Wellness Committee will coordinate a comprehensive program promoting healthy eating and physical activity for our students.
