Assessment and accountability measure the District's instructional outcomes. Students in grade 2-11 participate in the state's annual Standardized Testing and Reporting program (STAR). Schools are measured through the Academic Performance Index (API). California provides a wealth of data measuring and comparing the performance of students, school and districts.
Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) A statewide accountability system mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which requires each state to ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress.
Academic Performance Index (API) API is calculated using a combination of the annual standardized tests and the California High School Exit Exam; the target API for schools in California is 800.

California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) The CAHSEE is given annually to students beginning in 10th grade; the test measures proficiency in English and mathematics. Passing the CAHSEE is a high school graduation requirement.
California English Language Development Test (CELDT) California English Language Development test (CELDT) is administered to new students with a first language other than English and students identified as English Learners.
California Physical Fitness Test Results All students in 5th, 7th & 9th grade are tested on fitness standards including aerobic capacity, muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.
School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs) California public schools annually provide information to the community including demographics, academic data, class sizes, teacher and staffing and financial information. SARCs allow parents and the community to evaluate and compare schools.
