Enrolling your child in Pre-School/Pre-K

Santa Cruz City Schools offers several options for families with young children from 18 months to 5 years. More information is available here.

Enrolling your child in Kindergarten

Enrollment takes place in person at your neighborhood elementary school and will begin on February 25, 2013.  Your child must be five years old on or before October 1, 2013  to be eligible for Kindergarten enrollment.

Step 1. Determine your neighborhood school. This boundary map will help you to determine whether your child will attend Bay View Elementaryicon-outbound-link.gif, DeLaveaga Elementaryicon-outbound-link.gif, Gault Elementaryicon-outbound-link.gif, Westlake Elementary Schoolsicon-outbound-link.gif.

Step 2. Stop by your neighborhood school to pick up an enrollment packet or download the necessary forms beginning February 25. The following documents are required for registration:

Registrations are made in person. No appointment is necessary.

Step 3. If your family's home language is other than English, the Community Coordinator at your school can assist you.

Step 4. Please refer to the District Calendar for school start dates.

Attending a School other than your Neighborhood School

We offer the opportunity for students to attend a school outside of their attendance area boundary. If you live within the boundaries of Santa Cruz City Schools and wish to attend a school other than your neighborhood school, you may apply for Open Enrollment. If you live outside the boundaries of the Santa Cruz City Schools district and wish to attend one of our schools, you may apply for an Interdistrict Transfer.

Open Enrollment

Students who live within the Santa Cruz City School district boundaries and wish to attend a school other than their neighborhood school, may apply for Open Enrollment.

The priority filing period for middle and high school sudents is January 28 to February 15, 2013.  Please download the application, fill it out, and return it to the district office of the Santa Cruz City Schools, 405 Old San Jose Road, Soquel, CA 95073.

In the elementary district we are accepting applications for open enrollment only into Monarch, the Two Way Immersion Program, Gault and Bay View School. The priority filing period for Elementary schools is February 25 to March 15, 2013. Westlake and DeLaveaga Schools are at capacity and cannot accept open enrollment for any grades. Please download the application, fill it out, and return it to your school of residence.

Interdistrict Transfer

Students from another district wishing to attend a school in our district, and students from Santa Cruz City Schools wishing to attend a school outside our district must complete an Interdistrict Transfer Request. If you wish to leave the Santa Cruz City School district to attend another district, please use the link below to complete the application.

 

If you wish to come IN to the Santa Cruz City School district from another district, please request an application from your home district.
